Defensive standout Christian Barmore signs extension with New England Patriots

Patriots giving Christian Barmore a significant pay increase with 4-year extension potentially worth $92M

The New England Patriots have announced the signing of defensive tackle Christian Barmore to a four-year, $92 million contract extension. Barmore, a 2021 second-round pick, had a standout performance last season with 8.5 sacks, 64 tackles, and 13 tackles for a loss in 2023.

The extension includes $41.8 million in guaranteed money and represents a significant raise for Barmore, who was set to earn $1.82 million in the final year of his original deal. If he reaches the full value of the contract, he would average $23 million per year.

As they rebuild following the departure of Bill Belichick, extending players like Barmore is crucial for the Patriots. Head coach Jerod Mayo’s first NFL Draft yielded promising results, including quarterback Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick, earning a high grade from experts. This move demonstrates the team’s commitment to building a strong foundation for the future.
