The World Athletics Relays Bahamas 24, which will be held from May 4-5 at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau, is set to attract multiple global gold medalists such as Noah Lyles, Femke Bol, and Bahamian stars Shaunae Miller-Uibo, Steven Gardiner, and Devynne Charlton. This event serves as the main qualifying event for relay events at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Five relay events are scheduled to take place during the competition: Women’s 4x100m and 4x400m, Men’s 4x100m and 4x400m, and Mixed 4x400m. Each nation can enter one team per event, with a maximum of eight athletes per team. In the mixed 4x400m, a maximum of six athletes (three men and three women) can be entered with one substitution allowed after the first round.
The competition promises to be exciting as teams compete for Olympic qualification on both days of the event. On day one, teams that finish in the top two in each heat will advance to the final on day two and secure their spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics. In addition to competing for Olympic qualification, teams will also compete for prize money and lane seeding positions in the finals on day two. The remaining teams will compete in an additional round to secure their Olympic qualification.
