Revolutionizing the future of robotics: Tiangong unveiled at Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone

The first multi-purpose humanoid robot developed by China

The world’s first full-sized humanoid robot that operates solely through electric drive, Tiangong, was unveiled at the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone on April 27. Standing at 1.63 m tall and weighing 43 kg, the robot was developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center Company.

Tiangong is an open-source code with strong development capabilities, making it versatile for various applications in household services, manufacturing, and industrial settings. The robot is equipped with vision perception sensors and high-precision inertial measurement devices that allow it to process 550 trillion calculations per second. Additionally, Tiangong features 6-axis force sensors that provide accurate force feedback. During its launch ceremony, the robot showcased its ability to adapt to complex environments and maintain a stable speed of 6 km/h while navigating slopes and stairs with ease.

The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Zone, which is a hub for the robot industry in Beijing, has over 110 robot companies that create an industrial chain system integrating core components, machinery, and applications. The launch of Tiangong coincided with significant AI technology advancements at the Zhongguancun Forum 2024 held in China’s capital city of Beijing. These advancements highlight China’s expertise in integrating AI into everyday life to provide valuable tools for humans.

Seán Ó hÉigeartaigh, director at Cambridge’s Center for Risk Research expressed optimism for China’s AI industry during this forum. He praised China’s ability to develop AI solutions that enhance daily life. With Tiangong leading the way in humanoid robotics, it represents a significant step forward in the advancement of AI technology for practical applications.

In conclusion, Tiangong is an impressive example of how advanced technology can be integrated into everyday life to make our lives more efficient and convenient. As more companies continue to invest in developing innovative technologies like humanoid robots like Tiangong, we can expect even more exciting developments in the future!
