Survey Reveals Challenges Faced by Maui Businesses in Aftermath of Devastating Wildfires

Maui County releases findings from Business Health Check survey | Latest News, Sports, and Job Opportunities

In August 2023, the County of Maui suffered devastating wildfires that left many businesses in the community struggling to recover. In response, the Maui Office of Economic Development (OED) initiated a survey called Maui Business Health Check to gather feedback from businesses directly and indirectly impacted by the fires.

The survey, conducted from January to February 2024, received responses from 290 businesses, providing valuable insights into the challenges faced by the Maui business community in the aftermath of the wildfires. The goal of the survey was to gain a better understanding of the obstacles businesses are facing and identify areas where additional support and resources are needed. Among the 290 participants, 106 businesses were from Lahaina, representing a variety of industries including tourism and hospitality, retail, food and beverage, and arts, culture, and entertainment.
