Twins Welcome Back Injured Carlos Correa for Upcoming Rivalry Series with the Chicago White Sox

Carlos Correa returns to Twins lineup after missing 16 games with rib cage injury

The Minnesota Twins have brought back shortstop Carlos Correa from the 10-day injured list, just in time for their upcoming series against the Chicago White Sox. Correa had been sidelined for 16 games due to a strained right rib cage muscle, but before his injury, he was hitting well, with a .306 batting average, two doubles, one home run, four RBIs, and eight walks in just 11 games. The injury occurred when he was checking his swing during a strikeout on April 12.

In Correa’s absence, Willi Castro played most of the games at shortstop. However, despite not needing a rehabilitation assignment, the 29-year-old Correa is ready to return to the lineup and resume his role as the Twins’ starting shortstop. To make room for Correa on the roster, the Twins have decided to send multi-position player Austin Martin to Triple-A St. Paul. Martin had a decent performance in his time with the team so far, batting .226 with 16 runs, six doubles, six walks, two steals and one home run in 22 games.

This move allows Martin to continue developing his skills in Triple-A while Correa resumes his role as the Twins’ starting shortstop. With this change in lineup, the Minnesota Twins are looking forward to facing off against their rivals in what promises to be an exciting series.
