Girls in Information and Communication Technology Day: A Celebration

Last week, the Women in Technology Conference was held at St. Hubert’s Connelly Arts and Design Center, sponsored by Cisco Systems. This conference coincided with International Girls in Information and Communication Technology Day, which had a theme of Leadership for 2021.

The event attracted attendees from various schools including St. Hubert, Little Flower, and Archbishop Ryan. State Senator Jimmy Dillon, the minority-party chairman of the Senate Communications & Technology Committee, also participated in the conference.

As a keynote speaker, Jeanine Heck, Senior Vice President of Entertainment Product at Comcast and a St. Hubert graduate from 1995, shared her insights on leadership in the tech industry. Additional speakers included Terry Grogan from Tower Health, Christi Finnegan from TMNA Services, Gladys Kline from ThousandEyes (a part of Cisco), Gretchen Area and Alyson Andreas from Campbell Soup Company, Monique St. John from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Patty Vollmar from Colgate-Palmolive.

Overall, the conference provided an excellent opportunity for young girls to learn about leadership roles in technology and network with successful women in the field.
