Coastal Family Health Center in Wiggins Opens its Doors, Improving Access to Affordable Healthcare for Residents

Construction Begins on Coastal Family Health Center and Pharmacy in Wiggins

The Coastal Family Health Center and Pharmacy in Wiggins is set to open its doors, marking a significant milestone in the community’s healthcare journey. This groundbreaking ceremony was held in Wiggins, celebrating the $1.8 million project that has been in development for over six years. Angel Greer, CEO of Coastal Family Health Center, shared that the project was initiated due to the more than 500 Stone County residents who had to travel to one of the 42 facilities on the coast for medical services.

Greer emphasized that everyone should have access to quality and affordable healthcare, which is why Coastal Family Health Center is dedicated to expanding its facilities. She highlighted that their center serves all members of the community regardless of economic or insurance status. The organization offers sliding fee discounts to help individuals and households in need of medical assistance, reducing the cost of healthcare based on income and household size.

Wiggins Mayor Darrell Berry expressed his excitement about the new clinic, noting that it will help reduce appointment wait times for residents in need of medical attention. The goal of the clinic is to serve its first patient in Wiggins by mid-September, whether through walk-in services or the drive-through pharmacy. The addition of this Coastal Family Health Center in Wiggins and Stone County is seen as a positive development that will improve access to healthcare for the community.
