Dallas Cowboys Add Depth with Signing of Damien Wilson: The Latest in a Series of Outside Free Agent Acquisitions

Linebacker Damien Wilson to join Cowboys

Eric Kendricks, Royce Freeman and now Damien Wilson are the latest outside free agents to join the Dallas Cowboys. Wilson was out of the league for most of last season but signed with the Cowboys’ practice squad on Jan. 3. He had served a four-game suspension for violating the Personal Conduct Policy.

Wilson’s last game in the league was in Week 18 of the 2022 season with the Panthers. He was originally drafted by the Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft and spent his first four seasons in Dallas before playing for Kansas City, Jacksonville, and Carolina.

With the need for depth at the linebacker position, the Cowboys signed Wilson just two days after drafting Marist Liufau in the third round. Wilson is now the fourth outside free agent added by the Cowboys, joining Ezekiel Elliott, Eric Kendricks, and Royce Freeman.
