Empowering Youth: Boosting Access to the Waterfront through the Boothbay Sea and Science Center

Founder of the Boothbay Sea and Science Center to Present at Boothbay Region Garden Club Meeting

The Boothbay Sea and Science Center (BSSC) is a community-based organization that aims to provide affordable access to the waterfront for youth. Founded by Pauline Dion, the center offers a range of programs focused on sailing, boating, and marine science that are not available through other regional organizations.

Pauline Dion is a dedicated advocate for non-profit organizations and an experienced speaker. With a background in nursing, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Salve Regina College and a master’s degree from Boston College School of Nursing. She has also served on the Board of Directors for several local non-profits and chaired the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club Junior Sailing and Tennis programs from 2005 – 2012.

The BSSC collaborates with marine businesses, schools, social service agencies, and marine research agencies to create innovative and affordable education programs for youth ages 5-17. One such program is their partnership with Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, where scientists actively participate in program development and serve on the Board of Directors and Advisory Board.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from Pauline Dion at the upcoming monthly meeting of the Boothbay Region Garden Club on Wednesday, May 8 at 12:30 p.m. The event will take place at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church located at 32 Emery Lane in Boothbay Harbor. Light refreshments will be served to all attendees.
