‘Leading Ho Chi Minh City Towards Top 5 Cities in AI’

Nvidia has pledged to support Ho Chi Minh City’s development in artificial intelligence (AI) technology, with the goal of positioning the city among the top 5 globally. This commitment was shared during a meeting between Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Chairman Phan Van Mai and Nvidia Vice President Keith Strier on April 26.

During the meeting, Mr. Strier praised the city’s readiness in AI, citing its abundance of resources including nearly 100 universities and around 1 million IT engineers capable of delving into AI. He also noted the presence of a strong ecosystem of businesses in IT and semiconductors that are well-positioned to contribute to the AI industry.

Nvidia is eager to collaborate with Ho Chi Minh City on advancing AI technology in the near future, with a focus on development cooperation rather than business interests. The company recognizes the complexity of AI technology and emphasizes the need for continuous modernization of IT infrastructure, such as cloud computing and data centers, as well as enhancing human resource skills and business capabilities in the city.

To achieve their shared goals, Nvidia has committed to working with the city to establish AI human resource training programs for educators and students at universities, as well as improving AI technology capacities for businesses in Ho Chi Minh City. The Vice President underscored the importance of having strong leadership and vision in Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City to drive AI development forward.

Chairman Phan Van Mai highlighted the importance of establishing a joint working group with Nvidia to strategize and advise on priority areas in AI development, such as investing in computing infrastructure and developing AI industrial parks. The city is prepared to allocate budget resources and engage in public-private partnerships to drive the development of AI infrastructure.
